Functional Nitrides Group

at Imperial College London

What We Do

We focus on discovering and exploiting new families of nitride materials for applications in solid-state electronic devices. We take research from initial materials discovery through to final device design, carrying out fundamental theoretical studies, solid-state synthesis of new materials, thin film growth in the new EPSRC Electron Beam Epitaxy system, extensive materials characterisation studies, and device design and production. Our largest research theme is the search for new candidate materials and device structures for ultraviolet light emitters, as needed for water treatment applications in the developing world.

If you have a background in Physics, Materials Science, or Physical/Inorganic Chemistry and would like to join the group, then please contact usto enquire about current opportunities.
